ከፍተኛ ውኃ የሚጠቀሙ ኢንዱስትሪዎች ከውኃ እጥረት ጋር በተያያዘ ሊያጋጥሟቸው የሚችሉ ችግሮችን ለመከላከልና በዘርፉ በጋራ ለመሥራት ጥምረት በይፋ መሠረቱ፡፡

ጥምረቱን የመሠረቱት ከፍተኛ ውኃ የሚጠቀሙት የታሸገ ውኃ፣ የለስላሳ መጠጥ፣ የጭማቂ፣ የቢራና የሌሎች የአልኮል መጠጥ ፋብሪካዎች ናቸው፡፡

ሐሙስ ነሐሴ 20 ቀን 2013 ዓ.ም. በይፋ የተመሠረተው ጥምረት፣ በውኃና ወኃ ነክ ምርት ላይ የተሰማሩ ፋብሪካዎች የፋብሪካዎቹ ዋና ጥሬ የሆነውን ውኃ በአግባቡ የመጠቀም አስፈላጊነት ላይ በመግባባት ለዚሁ ጉዳይ የሚሠራ ጥምረት አቋቁመዋል፡፡

የተፈጥሮ ውኃን በአግባቡ መጠቀም አስፈላጊነት ላይ በዓለም አቀፍ ደረጃ የተለያዩ ሥራዎች እየተከናወኑ ነው፡፡ አላቂ ሀብት ነው ተብሎ የሚታመነውን ውኃ በአግባቡና በቁጠባ መጠቀም ካልተቻለ ወደፊት እጥረት ይፈጠራል የሚል ሥጋትም አለ፡፡ ኢትዮጵያ ከፍተኛ የውኃ ሀብት አላት ቢባልም፣ በአግባቡ መጠቀም ካልተቻለ የችግሩ ሰላባ ትሆናለች የሚሉ ምልከታዎች እየተንፀባረቁ ነው፡፡ በከፍተኛ ደረጃ ውኃን ዋነኛ ግብዓት አድርገው የሚጠቀሙ ፋብሪካዎች የውኃ እጥረት የሚያጋጥማቸው ወቅት አለ፡፡ ይህ ጉዳይ ዝም ከተባለና ውኃን ቆጥቦ በመጠቀም በጋራም ሆነ በግል መሥራት ካልተቻለ፣ እ.ኤ.አ. በ2030 የውኃ እጥረት ሊያጋጥም ይችላል የሚል በጥናት ላይ የተመሠረተ ትንታኔ ይቀርባል፡፡

ዛሬ ላይ የከርሰ ምድር ውሃ ለማግኘት 200 ሜትር ድረስ እንደሚቆፈር ተሰምቷል። ይህም ውሃ እየጠፋ እንደሆነ ምልክት ነው ተብሏል። የከርሰ ምድር ውሃ እንዳይባክን በቁጠባና በኃላፊነት ለማሥተዳደር ፖሊሲ ያስፈልጋል ተብሏል።

የታሸገ የውሃ አምራች ድርጅቶች ከአካባቢ ጥበቃ እና ሌሎች ሥራዎች ጋር በተገናኘ አንድ ላይ ለመሥራት መስማማታቸው ተሰምቷል። የታሸገ ውሃ እና የለስላሳ መጠጥ አምራች ድርጅቶች፣ የአትክልትና ፍራፍሬ አቀናባሪ እና ጨማቂዎች፣ እንዲሁም ሌሎችም አንድ ላይ ለመሥራት ሕብረት ፈጥረዋል ተብሏል።

Industrial water bottlers have lodged complaints and a plea for assistance before the authorities at the Ministry of Trade & Industry, claiming that issues with foreign currency shortages and disruptions in the supply of raw materials have placed them in dire straits.

The industry's complaints were submitted to the Ministry through the Ethiopian Bottled Water, Soft Drink, Fruits & Vegetable Processing Industries Association, run by Getnet Belay. Leaders of the Association, which is comprised of 83 members, have also filed their complaints with the Customs Commission, claiming taxation imposed on importing raw materials is "unfair," Ashenafi Merid, the Association's general manager, disclosed to Fortune.

Beverage and water bottling companies have formed an association that will be tasked with environmental rehabilitation and recycling products discharged from the industry. Dubbed the Green Economy & Plastic Collection Development, the Association has 20 founding members and received accreditation from the Agency of Civil Society Organizations in mid-July. The consortium of water, soft drink and juice bottlers was established to rehabilitate the natural resources used for production.
